Every unit, every move, one system.
Ambient OS manages your orders and directs the work in the building, whether that is a lab stockroom, a factory floor or a warehouse. From the receiving dock to the carrier label, it records every unit's history as it happens, so your stock count is something you can prove.
For labs, factories, warehouses and 3PLs shipping 50–500 orders a day.

One system for every building that holds stock and ships it.
The rules of good inventory are the same in a lab, a plant and a warehouse: know what came in, where it is, what it was used for and where it went. Ambient applies them the same way in each.
Labs
Reagents and consumables received by lot with their expiry dates, used first in, first out, and serial-tracked items with their own IDs. Every unit's history is on record for an audit.
Factories
Materials received against purchase orders with over, short and damaged outcomes. Finished goods are checked by weight and dimensions before they ship, and traced by lot or serial after.
Warehouses & 3PLs
Many clients in one building, multi-order carts and rapid pick, and labels bought from the carrier that fits each box.
Ambient tells each person the next task, and checks the scan.
Operators work from phones, tablets or a desk. Each step asks for a scan of the bin, the item and the quantity, so mistakes stop at the shelf instead of at the customer.
Receive
Against a purchase order, with over, short and damaged outcomes. Lots, expiry dates and serial numbers are captured where the item needs them.
Put away
Into the bin you choose, recorded by scan. Overstock and pick faces are tracked separately.
Replenish
Each pick face has a minimum and maximum. When it runs low, Ambient creates a move from overstock.
Allocate
Orders reserve stock first in, first out by receipt date, and a backorder retries when stock arrives.
Pick
Several orders at once on a cart, or one order straight into its shipping box with rapid pick.
QA
A count or scan, plus weight and dimensions against what the order should weigh. A failure goes to a supervisor.
Pack & label
Ambient cubes the order, splits it into shipments if needed, and buys the label from the best carrier.
Ship & return
Tracking appears on the order. Returns come back into quarantine, then are restocked or written off.
Many clients in one building, each kept separate.
Every item, order and return belongs to a client. Two clients can use the same SKU without colliding, and a scan only matches items of the client whose work is in hand.
- Order intake per client. Each client gets its own API key to send orders, or you import them from CSV.
- Clients hear about their orders. Signed webhooks report status changes, tracking updates and alerts to each client's systems.
- Rules that follow the client. Signature requirements by product, client and state law, and a packing allowance set per client.
- Returns with a paper trail. Return authorizations come in through receiving, and every unit lands in quarantine before it can be sold again.
The label is bought from the carrier that makes sense for this box.
After packing, Ambient asks your carrier accounts for quotes. It weighs price, the service level the order needs, each carrier's on-time record and the cost of a signature, then buys the label and prints it. If the carrier connection is down, the packer ships by hand and nothing waits.
- Real carriers, your accounts. UPS and FedEx labels on your own negotiated rates. Automatic choice compares FedEx services today, and UPS joins it next.
- Carrier performance you can see. On-time rate, days late, and settled against quoted cost for each carrier and service.
- Invoices reconciled. Upload the carrier's invoice and see what each label really cost.
| Carrier · service | Quote | On time | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| FedEx · 2Day | $11.92 | 97% | chosen |
| FedEx · Standard Overnight | $26.75 | 97% | higher cost |
| FedEx · Express Saver | $9.85 | 96% | misses 2-day |
| FedEx · Ground | $8.10 | 95% | misses 2-day |
| FedEx · Priority Overnight | $31.06 | 98% | higher cost |
Stock you can prove, not just count.
Every movement is written as an event with who, when and where. Ambient checks its own books continuously and raises an alert the moment the numbers disagree.
- Unit-level history. Serial-tracked units get their own ID, so you can answer where a specific unit went.
- Self-checking inventory. Scheduled reconciliation compares on-hand stock with the event history and flags any drift.
- An exceptions queue, not a mystery. Short picks, QA holds, refused labels and abandoned carts land with a supervisor, with the fix spelled out.
- Nothing is lost in transit. Updates to clients and carriers are queued and retried until they are delivered.
Fast on a scanner, clear on a desk.

Run your next peak on Ambient OS.
Ambient OS is in private early access. Tell us what you run, whether a lab, a plant or a warehouse, how many orders you ship a day and which carriers you use, and we'll set up a walkthrough on your own data.
